The board members of Columbia Girls Fast Pitch softball league in Columbia, Tennessee felt like their current forum-style website was lacking functionality and could be more visually appealing for their players and their families. CGFP hired me to help them design and develop a more professional website that met all of their needs and functionalities they desired for their growing girls softball league.

It’s easy to go overboard with a sports-themed website and to make it ultra-girly. The design of the new Columbia Girls Fast Pitch website needed to be clean and professional, without being cliché with an overwhelming sports feel and overly feminine.
I helped them accomplish all of this and more with a very clean and professional design that some sport undertones without being too much. The powerful teal and gray color scheme suited this girl’s softball league and didn’t feel girly. Powerful and color imagery completed the design to help bring focus to the youth girls and ladies who are honing their skills as softball players and becoming great well-rounded young women.

Columbia Girls Fast Pitch website had to accomplish quite a bit without being overwhelming for visitors. They wanted to allow for online player registration and fee processing, events calendar, a blog that functioned as their news and highlights, a photo gallery, and they needed several static pages to provide helpful information to players and their families. In addition, they wanted to be able to update every aspect of their site on their own and allow for players and others to access their website no matter where they were — at home on their computer to on their phones at the ball park.
WordPress suited their needs well, as it is very customizable to handle all of their needs now and in the future. I installed a few powerful plugins to help with their player registration and credit card processing, events calendar, and added functionality to the WordPress Dashboard that allowed for custom content fields for their many content needs throughout the site. Finally, their custom WordPress theme was developed responsively, so that no matter what device their visitors were viewing their site on, the site would look and function just as well as if they were viewing on their desktop.
